Whenever Chris goes out of town, it is customary for Nicholas to sleep in my room... in Chris' spot to 'keep me company' and make sure I'm safe. So, last night he assumed the position, and we chatted for a bit. I was exhausted, and Nicholas had a nap earlier in the day. I guess you can imagine that little chatterbox... He was just chattin' it up while I was already in my sleep position, trying so desperately to meet the Sandman for some much needed Zs. (Note to self... DO NOT LET KIDS NAP AFTER SCHOOL.)
He told me about everything that happened at school, from being chased by the little girls on the playground to what he had for lunch. In the midst of the conversation, he casually mentioned that the Tooth Fairy had visited his classroom. He was a bit agitated at this, as he has not lost any teeth yet, and has been trying to loosen them for approximately a year... Almost 7 years old, and still has all of his baby teeth. I'm pretty proud of this, but he is looking to cash some of those in... He really, really wants to lose those teeth:)
We discussed this Tooth Fairy for about five minutes. It doesn't seem like an extended period of time, but when your exhausted and it's 1130 pm, and still awake, it's a long darn time:) The conversation progressed to Nic saying, "Mom... I don't think it was REALLY the Tooth Fairy." When I asked him why, he stated that it couldn't possibly be her because it looked like her magic wand had been colored on... By the end of the conversation, he deduced that... "Well, I know it wasn't the REAL Tooth Fairy!! Her wand was colored on and her wings looked weird. I think it was one of her helpers... Do you think she has a lot of helpers, Mom?? And why don't they give them 'real' wands'??"
Ahhh... the shear innocence of it all!! I wish I had written more of these things down... Lesson learned. (Note to self: BLOG MORE!!)
