Unit Study: Presidents.
For the next two weeks, Nic and I will be studying the Presidents. I don't have all of it worked out yet (oops), but will update as we work through it.
Yesterday was our first day with this study. We did a brief introduction, that included Presidential photo cards, and a less-than detailed discussion about the political parties. After we went through the list, Nic was asked to choose ONE for a 'Pick-a-Pres' project that will be due at the end of the two week period (more on this later). Note: He chose Abraham Lincoln.
(*Side note: While going through the list of Presidents, Nic DID notice that some of the last names were the same, some people were related, and that someone was President for two separate non-concurrent terms.)
After this, I gave him a packet of information that will also be completed by the end of the designated time frame.
This packet included:
******a Presidential word search (Truth be told... I don't like giving 'busy work'. Nic requested this... he likes to do them while watching television.)
******Information on:
~ the White House
~ the Washington Monument
~ Mount Rushmore
~ the Presidential Seal.
This information will be used throughout the weeks to create cards, lapbooks, notebooking pages, etc., as we see fit.
******Information and instructions for the 'Pick-a-Pres' project. (This will be outline in a post tomorrow.)
And THAT was how we spent Day 1 of our study.
