Now, he looks like this...
I took him to the groomers a few weeks ago, thinking he would just get a 'trim'. He definitely got more than he bargained for. He was shaved so close that he did all kinds of scratching...
And licking... and biting... And, when I say 'lots', I mean LOTS!
'Mommy, why? Why did she do this to me?' He was pitiful!
He whined for three days straight... and when I say 'straight', I'm including the night hours, too. I called the vet, and they said to give him benadryl for 'razor burn'. Really? Needless-to-say, it made him sleepy.
And as I was taking pictures to commemorate this special event, he kept giving me the evil eye... and, a pitiful evil eye it was!
And he slept... some.
Now, along with the itchy skin, the licking, the biting, the rubbing of his bum on the floor, he also had chills. He was cold. I covered him up with a blanket at night... and amidst the ickyness of it all... he still looked at me with loving puppy dog eyes.
While at Walmart, I came across a sweater. Now, I'm well aware that dogs are not supposed to wear clothes. He's an animal, for Pete's sake. Everything I believed in, as far as clothing animals goes, went out the window when I thought of my sweet Benji in this sweater. So, I bought it. Yes, I did. And I put it on him.
And he liked it. And he was warm and cozy. And he loves me.
And then... he requested not to return to that particular groomer... and I said ok. Can't blame him, really. A dog wants to look good and all, but all of that drama was ridiculous.
*Disclaimer: I have not lost my mind. I'm just feeling a wee creative this New Years Day. Happy New Year, everyone!
