Anyway, we celebrated his birthday yesterday, knowing that today would not be conducive to adding the oh-so-wonderful birthday celebration to the long, long list of things that needed to be accomplished.
I wrapped Max's gifts before he got home from school, and had them placed on the table in the living room beneath the five balloons that were tied down to the table. He got home around 4, and had to wait a WHOLE two hours before he could open them... This was pretty difficult, as he was continually asking to unwrap them (knowing that he needed to wait on his Dad to get home from work). Finally, the unwrapping began... and one by one, Max opened each gift (guessing what was inside before opening). He found legos, an Under Armor hoodie, a Rip Stick, and a PS2 game... and then it came...
The pocket knife... According to Chris, "Every boy his age needs a pocket knife!" Whatever... I'm still not thrilled with it, but Max loved it. We laid down the rules for this gift, and ate dinner... a scrumptious meal catered by Burger King... and Taco Bueno:)
(Disclaimer: If you are planning to give your child a gift that requires rules... Think long and hard about it!!)
And to top off the Birthday Celebration...
Chris and the boys left this afternoon headed for Arkansas to Chris' deer lease. They're going hunting... I guess that pocket knife may come in handy after all... and the rifle Chris gave him, as well (that's a story for another day).
I know the boys are going to have a fabulous time, and well...
So are the girls!! We're headed to Dallas for some retail therapy, as I like to call it!! A fun filled weekend of shopping, dining, shopping, and oh... did I mention-- SHOPPING!! Very exciting!!
Back to the whole birthday thing--
Ten years ago today... I gave birth to a healthy 6 lb, 7 oz bouncing, baby boy. He was a blessing then, and remains a blessing to this day... I wish him the Hap, Hap, Happiest Birthday ever!! I love you Max... all the way to the moon and back:)
