The Lazy Mom's Guide to the Perfect Snow Day

In this guide, you will find the step-by-step instructions to provide you with the best snow day of your life. The following is a list that will give you a wide variety of 'activities' that will keep you calm, cool, and collected, while ensuring warm coziness throughout your day.

The perfect snow day activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Wake from nice, warm slumber by the sound of 'scream whispering' children requesting that you show them how to figure out if they have to go to school or not.

* Growl at said children. Follow up with the following statement... 'I cannot believe that you people are up THIS early! REALLY?!?!'

* Retrieve laptop from oldest 'scream whispering' child, and proceed to show him step-by-step, in a rather smart-alicky way, exactly how to get online, where the website lives that shows school cancellations, and how to scroll down the page to find the school district. Add, just for the heck of it, that the schools are listed in alphabetical order;)

* Repeat the following, 'I better not hear you people complaining about having to get up for school... EVER AGAIN! I still can't believe you are up at this hour when you (...I...) could be sleeping in!'

* Lay in bed gritting teeth and trying to figure out if stream really IS coming out of your ears. ~Why couldn't we sleep in?~

* Play a game, or two, of Sudoku on the iphone... while laying in bed. While gaming, listen to the two 'scream whispering' children in the living room... seemingly getting along, and pray that the rest of the day is as calm as this moment.

* Apologize to God for becoming so aggravated at very excited, 'scream whispering' children, realizing that a snow day to THEM is like another Christmas morning.

* Feel the burden of conviction weighing heavy on your shoulders. ~Note: Conviction is the Holy Spirit's way of saying, 'Come on now... really!?!' And then you feel bad. Really bad.~

* Get out of bed. Kiss the hubs goodbye... He, after all, does NOT get a snow day. He still has to work to provide you with the things you have. ~Note: I feel bad for Big Daddy. I wish he could have a snow day with us. I love him!~

* Make a pot of coffee. Don't forget the Coffee Mate.

* Contemplate the list of things that you will NOT do during this snow day: laundry, cleaning, cooking, showering.

* Realize that the children still need to eat. It would be easy to have them eat cereal or a poptart, but 1: you have no milk, and 2: you are still feeling convicted from the bad attitude earlier.

* Retrieve the biscuits, sausage patties, and eggs from the fridge. Cook.

* Kids eat, and are thankful for a warm meal on this cold day. Feel a sense of accomplishment... but do not boast.

* Refill coffee cup.

* Proceed to your favorite chair, and assume the position... The blogging position, that is.

* Open laptop, and create a silly, unimportant, useless list of things to do on this day. ~Note: As I type this, it is only 9:56... AM! We've not even had time to delve into this day!~

* Watch boys place snow into cups, and fill with Diet Dr. Pepper. *chuckle* Warn them against the nasty, dreaded yellow snow!

* Realize that you are, now, alone in the living room. Fireplace roaring. Television on SpongeBob, but muted (Thank you, Jesus!).

* While children are in their separate rooms, gaming on separate game systems, consider some activities that would involve all of the people... together. You know... like a FAMILY.

* Create list. Include things such as: board games, puzzles, playing in the snow, hot chocolate. Movies, charades, warm baths, reading. Card games, crafts, coloring, *conversation*.

* Look online for some more ideas for the day.

* Find nothing of importance or interest online, and purpose to 'teach' the children about 'just being'... or as they call it 'boredom'. There's nothing wrong with it... if you are intentional about it.

* Bake cookies. Create the days menu, and make meals... together! Write letters to family members who live out of state. Hmmm. PRAY!

* Refill coffee cup.

* Remember that you have three artists canvases, and add painting to the list.

* Determine that this is the end of the blog list, and proceed with 'round-up' statements;)

~~~Please be advised that this list is not set in stone. Feel free to tweak it, removing and adding ideas and activities as you deem necessary. AND HAVE A WONDERFUL SNOW DAY! I'm off to enjoy my boys... I LOVE THEM! Syd is gone, but I love her, too;)~~~
